

How our sense of taste works
A two-phase chemical reaction affecting both our mouth and throat (taste) and our nose is what combined together enables us to taste.
We are born with around 10,000 taste buds on our tongue, on the roof of the mouth, and in our throats. In transmitting the flavours we experience into our taste buds, saliva plays a significant role. Each taste bud is responsible for starting the taste action with approximately 10-50 cells and is replenished about every 7 to 10 days.
